On the Road: Gary, Indiana's The Brasserie
The Brasserie--Gary, IN So it seems I’m going to allow my wanderlust to guide my spirit and just take me away to wherever the wind blows with a chill vibe, some reclaimed wood and wifi password in plain sight. Today the wind has blown me thusly to The Brasserie , a cafe/bar/lounge on Gary’s Lake St, a winding road that leads straight to the duneland shores of Lake Michigan after taking you on a tour of several boutiques, a theatre, an art center/gallery and an impressive mural of the Jackson 5. Now, I’m not gonna mislead you here, I’m a fan of towns in the early stages of rebuilding, so it doesn’t bother me that a lot of the shops on Lake St are boarded up, suffering from broken windows or are deeply seasonal. Yet that’s what pulled my eye to The Brasserie , with its modern and quaint storefront windows with classically French cafe lettering and year round open doors.
